I. REPENTANCE OF MOSES
A. MOSES’ COMMUNICATION

>>1. DESPERATION
Ex 4:13a but he said, “Oh, my Lord . . .” (also Lk 6:46)
>>2. PETITION
Ex 4:13b “please send someone else.”

B. GOD’S INSTRUCTION
>>1. IRRITATION
Ex 4:14 Then the anger of YHWH was kindled against Moses and he said, “Is there not Aaron, your brother, the Levite? I know that he can speak well. Behold, he is coming out to meet you, and when he sees you, he will be glad in his heart. (also Ex 3:11, 13; 4:1, 10; 32:1-6; Lev 10:1-7; Num 12:1-8)
>>2. PROVISION
Ex 4:15-16 You shall speak to him and put the words in his mouth, and I will be with your mouth and with his mouth and will teach you both what to do. He shall speak for you to the people, and he shall be your mouth, and you shall be as [the voice of] God to him.
>>3. VALIDATION
Ex 4:17 And take in your hand this staff, with which you shall do miracles.” (also Ex 4:2)

II. JUDGMENT ON PHARAOH
A. FAMILY DECLARATION

>>1. EXPLANATION
Ex 4:18-19 Moses went back to Jethro his father-in-law and said to him, “Please allow me to return to Egypt to see whether my brothers are still alive.” And Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.” (For YHWH had said to Moses in Midian, “Go back to Egypt, for all the men who were seeking your life are dead.”)
>>2. AUTHORIZATION
Ex 4:20 So Moses took his wife and his sons and had them ride on a donkey, and went back to the land of Egypt. And Moses took the staff of God in his hand.

B. PHARAOH’S DETERMINATION
>>1. DEMONSTRATION
Ex 4:21a And YHWH said to Moses, “When you go back to Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the miracles that I have put in your power.”
>>2. REPERCUSSION
Ex 4:21b “But I will harden his heart, so that he will not let the people go”. (also Ex 7:13,22; 8:15,22; 9:12,35; 10:1; 17:8; Acts 4:26-28; Rom 11:33)
>>3. DECISION
Ex 4:22-23 Then you shall say to Pharaoh, ‘Thus says YHWH, Israel is My firstborn son, and I’m telling you, “Let My son go that he may serve Me.” If you refuse to let him go, then I will kill your firstborn son.'” (also Ps 89:26-27; Jer 31:9; Rom 8:29-30; Heb 12:22-24; Jn 1:12; I Jn 3:1-2; Ps 14:1-5; Jn 19:5, 14-16; Mt 27:22-23)
