1. OUR CHURCH IS A BODY
(Eph 4:12-16; I Cor 12:12-27; Col 3:15)
Many Christians see their life as SOLITARY, just “Jesus and Me” as out of obsessive individualism, not Biblical ignorance Church is CORPORATE, as part of the Body
2. OUR CHURCH IS A FELLOWSHIP
(Acts 2:41; II Cor 6:14-16; Jn 13:34-35)
We are a partnership, a social relationship and cooperation in the work. Vastly different from “hot tub religion” or “happy hour”
3. OUR CHURCH IS A FAMILY
(Eph 2:19; I Jn 3:1-2; Gal 6:10)
Everyone in the family is part of the household. We don’t all have the same talents and abilities, but each member equally important under headship of Christ
4. OUR CHURCH IS AN ASSEMBLY
(Mt 16:18)
Group called out from the surrounding throng
5. OUR CHURCH IS AN ARMY
(Rom 13:12; Eph 6:10-11)
Warfare and battle with Satan is not singular but march with other soldiers, willing to die for a brother with Esprit d ’corps
6. OUR CHURCH IS A FLOCK
(Acts 20:28-30; I Pet 2:25)
Alone, we graze and wander, “set for slaughter”. Follow shepherd and all needs met – food, water, path, comfort, safety
7. OUR CHURCH IS A PRIESTHOOD
(I Pet 2:9; Rev 1:5-6)
We ALL are a royal priesthood. We ALL offer the sacrifice of praise and give up the incense of the prayers of the saints
8. OUR CHURCH IS A PEOPLE
(I Pet 2:9; Eph 1:4-6)
Possessed now by God, owned by new master and want to please that master more than anything in the world
9. OUR CHURCH IS A BUILDING
(I Cor 3:9-10; 6:19-20; Eph 2:20-22)
Not a CHURCH building; people comprise the structure
10. OUR CHURCH IS A NATION
(I Peter 2:9; Eph 2:19)
Various ethnic groups, but our trait is to be holy
Bonus. OUR CHURCH IS A BRIDE
(Eph 5:22-27; II Cor 11:2-3; Rev 19:7)
Bride is submissive, holy and pure and eagerly awaiting our Bridegroom
