I. EVIDENCE OF A MIRACLE
A. WHAT THE MIRACLE SIGNIFIED

1. MEETING
Acts 2:1 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one room.
2. MARVEL
Acts 2:2-3 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting. And divided tongues like flame appeared and rested on each one of them.
(also Gen 1:1-2; 2:7; Ezek 37:9-10; Jn 3:8; Mt 3:11)
3. MOVING
Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other languages as the Spirit gave them ability.
(also Lk 10:1-20; Jn 14:15-18; 16:7; Acts 1:4-5; 4:8; Rom 6:4-6; I Cor 12:13; Gal 3:27; Eph 5:18)

B. WHAT THE MIRACLE INVOLVED
1. MULTITUDE
Acts 2:5-6 Now there were residing in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven. At this sound the multitude came together in bewilderment, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language.
2. MIGHTY WORKS
Acts 2:7-11 They were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans? And how is it that each of us hear in his own native language? Parthians and Medes and Elamites and residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya belonging to Cyrene, and visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes, Cretans and Arabians – we hear them telling in our own languages the mighty works of God.”
(also I Cor 14:22)

II. EXPLANATION OF A MIRACLE
A. WHAT THE MIRACLE WASN’T

1. MYSTIFIED
Acts 2:12-13 Everyone was amazed and perplexed, saying to each other, “What does this mean?” But some jested, saying “They are filled with new wine.”
2. MARK MY WORDS
Acts 2:14-15 But Peter, standing with the eleven, lifted up his voice and addressed them: “Men of Judea and all staying in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and mark my words. For these people are not drunk, as you assume, since it is only the third hour of the day.
(also Eph 5:18)

B. WHAT THE MIRACLE MEANT
1. MESSAGE
Acts 2:16-18 But this is what was uttered through the prophet Joel: “And in the last days it shall be, God declares, that I will pour out my Spirit on all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams; even on my male servants and female servants in those days I will pour out my Spirit, and they shall prophesy.
(also Joel 2:28-32; I Jn 2:18; Heb 1:2; I Pet 1:20)
2. MAGNIFICENCE
Acts 2:19-20 And I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below, blood, and fire, and vapor of smoke; the sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood, before the day of the Lord comes, the great and memorable day.
(also Mt 24:29-30)
3. MOTIVE
Acts 2:21 And it shall come to pass that everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
(also Prov 18:10)
