I. UNEXPECTED STOP
A. MIRACLE

>>1. WELCOME
Acts 28:1-2 After we reached safety, we learned that the island was called Malta. The native people showed us unusual kindness, for they kindled a fire and welcomed us all, because it had begun to rain and was cold.
>>2. WARMTH
Acts 28:3-5 When Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and put them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat and fastened on his hand.
When the local people saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer. Though he has escaped from the sea, Justice has not allowed him to live.”
However, he shook off the creature into the fire and suffered no harm.

>>3. WORSHIP
Acts 28:6 They were waiting for him to swell up or suddenly fall down dead. But when they had waited a long time and saw no misfortune come to him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.

B. MINISTRY
>>1. WONDER
Acts 28:7-8 Now in the area of the wreck were lands owned by leader of the island named Publius, who received us and entertained us hospitably for three days. It happened that the father of Publius continually was sick with fever and dysentery. And Paul visited him, prayed, and putting his hands on him healed him.
>>2. WORK
Acts 28:9 And when this had taken place, the rest of the people on the island who had diseases kept coming for treatment.
(also Col 4:14)
>>3. WORTHY
Acts 28:10a They also honored us greatly

II. EXPECTED DESTINATION
A. MISSION

>>1. WAIT
Acts 28:10b-11 and when we were about to sail, they put on board whatever we needed. After three months we set sail in a ship that had wintered in the island, a ship of Alexandria, with the twin gods as a figurehead.
>>2. WILLING
Acts 28:12 Putting in at Syracuse, we stayed there for three days.
>>3. WIND
Acts 28:13 And from there we made a circuit and arrived at Rhegium. And after one day a south wind sprang up, and on the second day we disembarked at Puteoli.

B. MOTIVATION
>>1. WELL-DONE
Acts 28:14a At Puteoli found brothers and were invited to stay with them for seven days.
>>2. WISH
Acts 28:14b-15 And so we arrived in Rome. And the brothers there, when they heard about us, came as far as the Market of Appius and Three Inns to meet us. On seeing them, Paul thanked God and was encouraged.
(also Acts 2:10)
>>3. WITNESS
Acts 28:16 And when we entered Rome, Paul was allowed to stay by himself, with only the soldier who guarded him.
(also Acts 23:11; 27:23-25; Phil 1:13)
