False Wisdom

A. The manifestation of false wisdom

James 3:14 – This wisdom is not that which comes down from above, but is earthly, natural, demonic.

B. The characteristics of false wisdom

James 3:15 – For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there is disorder and every evil thing.

C. The outcome of false wisdom

James 3:16 – But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, unwavering, without hypocrisy.

I. Time
A. Make the most of every opportunity.   Eph. 5:16-18; Eph. 4:29
B. Value each day to put others first.  Ps. 90:12

II. Gentleness with others.  Phil 4:5; Col. 4:5-6

III. Meekness before God.  James 4:6-8

IV. Bitter Zeal.
  Remember where you came from! 2 Tim. 2:24-26; 2 Tim. 4:2

V. Selfish Ambition.
  Notice me, please!  1 Cor. 10:13; 2 Peter 1:17

VI. Lie against the truth.  Gen. 3:1

“THE BLESSINGS OF THE TONGUE”
“For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.” James 3:2

I. The Perfect Man…
a. Maturity by trial (James 1:4)
b. Maturity by words & deeds (2 Cor. 5:20; Col. 3:17)
c. Maturity with a single purpose (Phil.1:6; 1 Cor 9:24-26; Rm. 8:28-29)

II. Able to Bridle…
a. Negative potential (Proverbs 18:21; 8:3; 12:18; 1 Peter 3:9
b. Positive potential  ( The answer is Yes! – John 10:10)

III. The Whole Body
a. The whole person is defiled! (Mk 7:20)
b. The “circle of life” is blessed! (John 1:14; John 7:46)
