I. COVENANT PROMISES

A. COMMAND
1. Source of the Command
Mal 2:4a “So shall you know that I have sent this command to you,

2. Motive of the Command
Mal 2:4b that my covenant with Levi may stand, says YHWH-Tsabaoth.” (Ex 32:1-6; 32:17-26)

B. COVENANT
1. Promise of Life
Mal 2:5a “My covenant with [Levi] was one of life

2. Promise of Peace
Mal 2:5b and peace, (Num. 25:6-13; Ps 106:30)

3. Promises Secured
Mal 2:5c and I gave those [both] to him.” (Psalm 19:11)

II. COVENANT CONDUCT

A. CHARACTER
1. Serving in Fear (Covenant of Fear)
Mal 2:5d “It was a covenant of fear, and he dreaded Me.”

2. Standing in Awe (Covenant of Awe)
Mal 2:5e “He stood in awe of My Name.” (Is 6:3)

3. Speaking the Truth (Covenant of Truth)
Mal 2:6a “True instruction was in his mouth; no wrong was found on his lips.” (Deut 33:10)

4. Striving for Peace (Covenant of Peace)
Mal 2:6b “He walked with Me in peace” (Job 22:21; Is 27:5; James 3:18)

5. Sanctifying in Uprightness (Covenant of Justice)
