A Sermon by Dr. Bob Griffin, Teaching Elder at Sovereign Grace Church
I. GOD GIVES HIS STRENGTH TO THE WEAK
A. God’s Strength is Perfected in My Weakness
II Cor. 12:9-10 “But He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is perfected in your weakness.’” (I Cor 3:5-7; 21-23)
B. God Wants ME to be a ‘Hero’ of the Faith
Heb 11:39 “And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us.” (II Tim 4:7)
II. GOD GIVES HIS PRESENCE TO THE WEARY
A. God is With Me Always
Matthew 28:20 “Therefore, having gone, make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
B. God’s Presence is Tangible
Psalm 34:17 “The righteous cry out, and the Lord hears them; He delivers them from all their troubles.” (Job 5:7)
III. GOD GIVES HIS JOY TO THE WEEPING
A. God’s Joy Eternal while Sorrow is Temporary;
Psalm 30:5 “For His anger endures just for a moment; in His favor is life; Weeping may endure for the night, but joy comes in the morning.” (II Sam 1; John 11; 20:19)
B. God’s Love for Us Never Changes
Psalm 103:11 “For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His love for those who fear Him” (Romans 8:28)
IV. GOD GIVES HIS ANSWERS TO THE WONDERING
A. God Hears My Prayers
Matthew 14:31-32 So Peter got out of the boat and walked on the water and came to Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid, and beginning to sink he cried out, ‘Lord, save me.’ Jesus immediately reached out His hand and took hold of him, saying to him, ‘O you of little faith, why did you doubt?’ (Isaiah 55:9)
B. God Will Wait to Reveal it All until Heaven
Job 19:25-27 “For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another.” (Rev. 21:3-4)
