I. PROCAIMING THE TRUTH
A. CLAIMING THE PROMISE

I Kg 18:41 And Elijah said to Ahab, “Rise, eat and drink, for there is a sound of heavy rain.”
1. CONDITION (Jn 20:29; Mk 16:18; Josh 6:3-5; Rom 10:13; I Thes 4:16-17; Prov 3:5-6; Mt 21:27; Ps 119:105)
2. CONFIDENCE (Lk 4:25; Phil 4:19; Mt 5:18, 25-34)

B. LIVING IN LIGHT OF THE PROMISE
I Kg 18:42a So Ahab rose up to eat and to drink. Elijah went up to the top of Mount Carmel.

2. CONCERNED (Jn 4:31-32)

II. PRAYING FOR THE ANSWER
A. EXPECTING THE PROMISE

I Kg 18:42b-43 He bowed himself down on the earth and put his face between his knees. He said to his servant, “Rise and scan the sea.” And he went up, looked and said, “There is nothing.”
Elijah repeated, “Do it again,” seven times.
1. CAREFUL (Job 28:26; Jer 5:24; Ps 147:8)
2. CONCENTRATE (Jas 1:6-8; 5:16-18)

B. PREVAILING OF THE PROMISE
I Kg 18:44a On the seventh time he said, “Behold, on the horizon of the sea is a little cloud the size of a person’s palm.”

2. CERTAINTY (Mark 11:22-24; Heb 11:6; Jer 33:3; Is 65:24)

III. PREPARING FOR THE STORM
A. BELIEVING THE PROMISE

I Kg 18:44b And he said, “Rise and tell Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop you.'”
1. CONVICTION

B. SAVORING THE PROMISE
I Kg 18:45-46 In a few minutes the sky darkened with clouds and wind, and there was a heavy downpour. Ahab rode and went to Jezreel. The hand of YHWH was on Elijah; he tucked up his robe and ran ahead of Ahab to the gate at Jezreel.
1. CONSEQUENCES (Heb 12:1)
2. COURAGE (Phil 4:13; Is 40:29-31)
