I. WRONG CHOICE: UNFAITHFUL TO THE WORD
A. REMINDER
>>1. DISTRACTION – II Tim 2:14a Remind [them] of these things,
>>2. DISPUTATION – II Tim 2:14b earnestly attesting before God not to quarrel about words (also Eph 1:17-18)
B. RESULTS
>>1. DETRIMENTAL (FOR TEACHER) – II Tim 2:14c which is not only unprofitable [to you] (also Phil 1:9-10; Col 1:9)
>>2. DANGEROUS (FOR STUDENT) – II Tim 2:14d but catastrophic to the hearer. (also Rom 10:17)
II. RIGHT CHOICE: FAITHFUL TO THE WORD
A. RECOGNITION
>>1. DILIGENT – II Tim 2:15a Make diligent effort to present yourself to God (also II Cor 11:2; Eph 5:27)
>>2. DEMONSTRATION – II Tim 2:15b as one ‘approved’ (also Phil 2:15)
B. REPRESENTATION
>>1. DUTY – II Tim 2:15c a worker (also II Cor 5:10)
>>2. DETERMINED – II Tim 2:15d who has no cause for shame
C. RESOLUTION
>>1. DECISIVE – II Tim 2:15e handling accurately (also Neh 8:8)
>>2. DIRECTION – II Tim 2:15f the Word of truth. (also Ps 119:43; II Cor 6:7; Col 1:5; Jas 1:18; Mt 7:1; I Tim 6:10; Lk 11:19; Phil 4:13; Jer 29:11; Rom 16:16)
