Matthew 15:22 And behold, a Canaanite woman came out from that region, and began to cry out, saying, “Have pity on me, Lord, Son of David; my daughter is severely demon-possessed.”

A.        PLEA IN ACTION

Mark 7:25 But after hearing of Him, a woman whose little daughter had an unclean spirit, immediately came and fell at His feet.1.  REPUTATION

B.        PLEA IN WORDS

LOWEST OF ALL GENTILES

AND A WOMAN!!

III.      PROBLEM

A.        RESPONSE OF JESUS TO THE WOMAN

Matthew 15:23a But He did not answer her a word.

AT FIRST, NO ANSWER

B.        RESPONSE OF DISCIPLES

Matthew 15:23b And His disciples came to Him and kept asking Him, saying, “Dismiss her, for she is shouting out after us.”

GIVE IN

PRAY TO THE SAINTS?

C.        RESPONSE OF JESUS TO THE DISCIPLES

Matthew 15:24 He answered, “I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

TEACHING PRINCIPLE

THIS PRINCIPLE WAS CHANGING

IV.     PETITION

A.        REPEATED

Matthew 15:25 But she came and began to bow down before Him, saying, “Lord, help me!”

INCREASED DEDICATION

MODEL PRAYER ‘Lord, help me’

You can use it when you are in a hurry

You can use it when you are in fear

You can use it when you don’t have time to bow your knee

You can use it in the pulpit if you are going to preach

You can use it when you are opening your shop or school

You can use it when you are rising in the morning

B.        REBUFFED

Matthew 15:26 And He replied, “It is not good to take the children’s bread and throw it to the little dogs.”

SHARP DISCOURAGEMENT

CHILDREN’S BREAD

C.        REPLY

Matthew 15:27 But she said, “Yes, Lord; but even the little dogs feed on the crumbs that fall from their masters’ table.”

IDENTIFICATION

V.      PROMISE

Matthew 15:28 Then Jesus answered and said to her, “O woman, your faith is great; let it be done as you wish.” And her daughter was healed at once.

A.        COMMENDED

PRAISED O Woman, great is your faith

GREAT FAITH

B.        COMMANDED

Mark 7:29 And He said to her, “Because of this answer go your way; the demon has gone out of your daughter.”
