I. RESTORATION OF HOSEA’S BRIDE
A. FALLEN STATE OF HIS BRIDE
Hosea 3:1 And the Lord said to me, “Go, show your love to your wife again, though she is loved by another man and is an adulteress. Love her even like the Lord loves Israel, though they turn to other gods and love pagan cakes of raisins.”
>>1. HARD TO OBEY (Lk 24:17-21; Deut 24:1, Mt 19:7-8)
>>2. HARD TO LOVE (Eph 5:25)
B. RESTORED STATE OF HIS BRIDE
Hosea 3:2-3 So I bought her for fifteen shekels of silver and a bushel and a peck of barley. Then I told her, “You must live as my wife for all your days. You shall not be a prostitute or be intimate with any man; so will I follow the same rule to you.”
>>1. HARD TO PAY FOR WHAT WAS RIGHTFULLY HIS
>>2. HARD FOR A NEW RELATIONSHIP
II. RESTORATION OF GOD’S BRIDE, ISRAEL
A. FALLEN STATE OF GOD’S PEOPLE
Hosea 3:4 For the nation of Israel will remain many days without king or prince, without sacrifice or sacred pillar, without ephod or household gods.
>>1. HARD TO AVOID JUDGMENT OF GOD (Josh 4:5; 24:26; Gen 28:18; I Kg 12:28-31)
>>2. HARD TO FIND REDEMPTION (Ruth 3:11-13; 4:3-6; Mt 20:28; Titus 2:14; I Pet 1:18-19; I Cor 6:20)
B. RESTORED STATE OF GOD’S PEOPLE
Hosea 3:5 Afterward the nation of Israel will return and seek the Lord their God, and David their king. They will come trembling to the Lord and to His blessings in the last days.
>>1. HARD TO SEEK THE LORD (Is 55:3-5; Jer 30:9; Ezek 34:23-25)
>>2. HARD TO REPENT (Rom 11:1, 5, 25-27)
