1. PROMISE Mk 15:43a a respected member of the Council, who was personally looking for the kingdom of God
2. PRESTIGE Lk 23:50b-51a He was a good and righteous man, (who had not consented to their decision and action)

C. DISCIPLE
1. PUPIL Mt 27:57b and was also a disciple of Jesus
2. PRIVATE Jn 19:38b but secretly for fear of the Jews (also Jn 9:22; 12:37-43)

II. CONCERN

A. DESIRE
1. PROPOSAL Mt 27:58a He went to Pilate
2. PLEA Mt 27:58b and boldly asked for the body of Jesus

B. DISCERNMENT
1. PROBLEM Mk 15:44 Pilate wondered when he heard that Jesus died so quickly. Summoning the Centurion, he asked him whether He was already dead. (also Is 53:5).
2. PILATE Mk 15:45 And when the Centurion confirmed He was dead, Mt 27:58b Pilate ordered the body to be surrendered to Joseph.

III. CONDUCT

A. DESIGN
1. POSSESSION Mt 27:59a And Joseph took the body
2. PURCHASE Mt 27:59a and wrapped it in Mk 15:46a a newly purchased linen shroud(also Is 53:9)

B. DEVELOPMENT
1. PURPOSE Jn 19:39 Nicodemus also, who previously came to Jesus by night, arrived bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes weighing nearly seventy-five pounds.
2. PROCEDURE Jn 19:40b with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews.

C. DETAIL
1. PEACEFUL Jn 19:41a-42 Now in the place where He was crucified there was a garden . . nearby
2. PLACED Mt 27:60a and laid it in his own new tomb, which he had cut out of rock
3. PREPARED Lk 23:53b and no one had ever yet been laid.
4. PROTECTED Mt 27:60b After rolling a great stone to the entrance of the tomb, he left.
