I. GOD KNOWS OUR PROBLEMS
A. CALL ON GOD

>1. DISTRESS
II Kg 4:1a Now the wife of one of the sons of the prophets cried to Elisha,
(also Gal 6:9-10)
>2. DEATH
II Kg 4:1b “Your servant my husband is dead,
>3. DEDICATION
II Kg 4:1c and you know that your servant feared YHWH,
(also Rom 8:28)
>4. DEBTS
II Kg 4:1d but the creditor has come to take my two children to be his bond-slaves.”
(also Lev. 25:39)

B. CARE OF GOD
>1. DESIRE
II Kg 4:2a Elisha asked her, “What shall I do for you?
(also Mt 20:28; Jn 16:33; Prov 15:3; Heb. 4:15; I Pet. 5:7; Ps 147:4; 50:11; II Tim 2:19a)
>2. DISCERNMENT
II Kg 4:2b Tell me, what do you have left in your house?”

II Kg 4:2c She answered, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a flask of oil.”

II. GOD TESTS OUR FAITH
A. COMMANDS OF GOD

>1. DIRECTIVE
II Kg 4:3a So he said, “Go outside, borrow empty containers from all your neighbors,
>2. DECISION
II Kg 4:3b as many as you can get.

B. CONTROL BY GOD
>1. DEFINE
II Kg 4:4a Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these containers,
>2. DICTATE
II Kg 4:4b setting aside each full one.”

III. GOD REWARDS OUR FAITH
A. CONFIDENCE IN GOD

>1. DUTY
II Kg 4:5 So she went from him and shut the door behind herself and her sons. And as she poured they brought the containers to her.

>2. DETERMINED
II Kg 4:6a When the containers were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another.” He replied, “There aren’t any more.”

II Kg 4:6b Then the oil stopped flowing.

B. CONDITIONS BY GOD
>1. DECLARATION
II Kg 4:7a She came and told the man of God,

II Kg 4:7b and he said, “Go, sell the oil to pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”
