A. CAUTION (NEGATIVE ACTIONS TO AVOID)
>>1. ELUDE – II Tim 2:23a Have nothing to do with foolish, (also I Tim 1:3-7; Acts 15; Gal 2:11-14; Jude 3)
>>2. EMPTY – II Tim 2:23b senseless controversies,
B. CONCERN
>>1. EMBROILED – II Tim 2:23c knowing they breed contention. (also I Tim 6:4; Titus 3:9)
>>2. ENMITY – II Tim 2:24a For the Lord’s slave must not be contentious,
II.MODEL
A. CHARGE (POSITIVE TRAITS WE SHOULD HAVE)
>>1. EXHIBITING KINDNESS – II Tim 2:24b but be gentle to everyone, (also I Thes 2:7)
>>2. EXHIBITING SKILLFUL TEACHING – II Tim 2:24c able to teach,
B. COUNSEL
>>1. EXHIBITING FORBEARANCE – II Tim 2:24d patient when wronged, (also I Pet 2:23)
>>2. EXHIBITING HUMILITY – II Tim 2:25a gently correcting his opponents. (also Num 12:3; Mt 11:29; II Cor 10:1; Gal 5:23)
III. MOTIVATION
A. CONSIDERATION (POSSIBLE RESULTS OF SUCH CONDUCT)
>>1. ENABLING – II Tim 2:25b Perhaps God may grant them repentance
>>2. EVIDENCE – II Tim 2:25c leading to [their] acknowledging the truth,
B. CALL
>>1. ESCAPE – II Tim 2:26a that they may sober up and escape from the snare of the devil, (also I Tim 3:7; 6:9)
>>2. EXPERIENCE – II Tim 2:26b after being captured [alive] by him to do his will.
